Based on the novel by Mary Shelley (already one of my favourite books so dangerous territory for any adaptation) - it conveys all the darkly fascinating concepts within this gothic horror: scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil. All gloriously amplified with the seamless combination of live theatre, and live simulcasts to cinemas around the world. Stunning camera work allowed a unique perspective to the cinema audience through close-ups, special effects and striking overhead shots. And Johnny Lee Miller must win every award going for his performance as the creature...
Frankenstein runs at the National until May 2nd 2011 but the fastest selling show in the history of the NT has long been sold out. Some day tickets are available each morning - and well worth queuing through the night for!
