Within 36 hours Rouge presented 3 undiscovered venues to the client and was commissioned to produce the event at Circus Space in Hoxton.

We took Ikea’s central philosophies to heart: “Be brave, not beige”; “Let the product do the talking” and “Good design doesn’t have to be expensive.”

Guests were transported back to 1987, to life before IKEA, and confronted with domestic excesses of the 80s before being whizzed along a time tunnel featuring IKEA landmarks. They were then plunged into the present of IKEA’s “hero products” creatively merchandised.  Guests enjoyed drinks in IKEA’s “white cube” Hoxton gallery space then the doors into a vast Combustion Chamber opened to reveal a massive screening room featuring enough IKEA sofas to seat all 300 guests.

The event ended with specially commissioned music leading guests into the Generating Chamber where they danced beneath a kaleidoscopic canopy of IKEA fabric.
